The best thing about mobility, in Wes' opinion, is the newfound access to Bear and her toys. For now, Bear can still escape...usually to our bed.
With the extremely hot weather we have been experiencing this summer, we have often been cooped up inside trying to stay cool. To burn off some extra energy, we upgraded Wes' walker. He grew out of his old one, so we replaced it with what appears to be a sort of spaceship. Regardless of what it is supposed to be, Wes absolutely loves
Sometimes Mom gets enough cabin fever to also join in on the fun!
Mom also dedicated one of her kitchen cabinets as the "Wes Cabinet." All of her Tupperware was hastily thrown in, and coincidentally, there was enough time to cook dinner that night!
On the few cooler days we've had, we have made our way to Uptown Normal for $2 Tuesdays at the Coffee Hound and also for the opening of Uptown Station, the new transportation center. Wes made his mom and pop proud by posing as a scientist!
A few weeks ago, Wes got to meet his Uncle Nate for the first time. They pretty much were best buds by the end of the visit.
Another big milestone in Wes' world was that Mom and Dad finally gave in and moved him to the "big kid" tub. There is MUCH more splashing than before, but it is also much more contained too. No more sopping clothes and socks for Mom and Dad after Wes' bath!
Wes continues to explore new foods (green beans are still out, no matter what form). His newest discovery: spaghetti!
Also, Wes may have a Binky addiction. But the first step is admitting you have a problem, right!?
One of the greatest accomplishments that Wes has done in the last few weeks is to finally nap longer than 30 minutes! You wouldn't believe how much relief that little bit of structure has brought to our day. Kristy is able to get some quilting done (by the way, check out her new Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/#!/QuiltsByKristy) during each nap which helps balance her workload tremendously. The little bit of predictability to our days has helped us really to enjoy these last few weeks, however high the thermometer may soar!
