The Big 02

If you ask Wes, there are two really awesome things about his birthday.
1) It falls on/around Labor Day weekend, so cake quality time spans multiple days.
2) It is the day before his bff Ben's birthday, so there is even more cake quality time. 

Wes and Ben started the weekend by building up their sugar tolerance with a trip to DQ.  You have to train hard when you know it's going to be a copious cake week.

They also prepped for present opening with an old box found in our garage.

And then Wes' big day arrived.  He spent the morning drawing with chalk and taking some selfies.

The family festivities were to begin around dinnertime, so Wes pre-partied in the pool after nap.

Why not?

After dinner it all got real.  With cupcakes.  And presents.

So generous.

Wrapping paper makes a little more sense this year.

Grandma and Grandma Miller gave Wes a new rocking chair!

The next day was Ben's bday, so the finale of the week-long party was an ice cream and cupcake feast in our backyard.

Baby J gives high fives.

The boys open their matching quilts.

Wes is obsessed with drains in the street.  He calls them "ahhs"
because they echo when you yell into them.  The neighbors made
him an "ahh" box for inside fun too.  Best. Gift. Ever.

Everyone went home with full bellies and heavy eyelids.  If 2 was this epic, we can't wait to see what 3 holds!
