Hello Summer!

What are the two favorite words of any teacher?  Summer Vacation!  And it's about to begin!

There are some pretty huge changes coming our way this summer.  First of all, Wes goes for what is promised to be his last helmet check tomorrow.  We should be able to take it off for good!  Suggestions as to what to do with the helmet once it is off are welcome.

Last week Sean also interviewed for a position as a district technology coach.  He received a call two days later with a job offer!  He will leave his classroom after 6 years as a science teacher and take on the new role of teaching teachers about technology.  The best part of the new job (besides all the details about it being his dream job, blah, blah, blah) is that he still has summers off!

Kristy is also wrapping up her school year, and consequently, her career.  There is a bit of ambivalence, as being a stay-at-home mom is a jump into the unknown, but it's bound to be an exciting adventure.  And that gigantic smile Wes gives her as soon as she walks into the room makes any doubt vanish.

Wes is simply excited about life.  Warm weather brings so many new experiences that it seems like he is just constantly in awe of what is going on around him.  He likes to watch cars go down the street, touch the plants in the back yard, and most notably, eat ice cream (really doctor, we only let him have a lick)!

Wes is also convincing Mom and Dad to let him stay up past his bedtime some nights in order to play outside with his neighbor buddy Ben.  Both of them like to explore the garden in Ben's yard.

Wes also went swimming for the first time this past weekend. What did he think? Coolest. Thing. Ever. He even called Ben over to join the party. Can you tell that they were born a day apart?!

Our newest challenge: making sure Wes' splashing habits aren't carried indoors to bathtime!
