The Great Outdoors

Wes is happiest when he is outside, and we have had an absolutely beautiful September with cloudless skies and temps in the 80's.

Grandpa Mullins bought Wes his first bicycle earlier this summer, and after weeks of trying to learn how to use the pedals (which are surprisingly and frustratingly different than a tricycle) and many "Tic Tacs for trying," Wes got the hang of it and hasn't stopped since.  The first day that he mastered pedaling, we circled the block 8 times and then rode nearly 3 miles to Uptown and back for dinner and ice cream.  When this kid discovers something, he's all-in!

We recently discovered that in Peoria, there is an actual working water tower with an elevator that takes you to the top. How did we not know about this before?!  We took a trip to check it out with Grandpa Miller one sunny afternoon, and it was pretty awesome.

For whatever reason, we hadn't made it to the forest for awhile.  We decided to head out to Funk's Grove this past weekend, and despite a lack of rain for the past few weeks, Wes still found some great opportunities to get muddy.

Wes has never met a dog or bug that he hasn't wanted to pet, and the irritating beetles that invade our yard during this time of year are no exception.

And to cap off the wonderful September weather we've had, we stayed up way past our bedtimes to watch the supermoon lunar eclipse on September 27th.

Of course, we can't make it through a day without hitting a few (hundred) baseballs either.
